Blair Welsh

Blair Welsh is a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Political Science, New York University – Abu Dhabi. He received his PhD from the Department of Government, University of Essex. His research investigates the politics of armed violence and development, with a regional focus on Africa. His methodological portfolio includes survey and field experiments, spatial econometrics, and strategies for causal inference. He is currently conducting survey and field research in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Iraq, Kenya, Nigeria, Somalia, South Sudan, and Uganda.

Dr. Welsh’s research has been published in the International Studies Quarterly, Journal of Peace Research, and Oxford Research Encyclopedia of International Studies. He has held fellowships at the School of Government and Public Policy, University of Arizona, the Centre for International Studies, University of Montréal, the Centre for International Peace and Security Studies, McGill University and University of Montréal, and the Human Rights Centre, University of Essex.
