Job Opening: Program Coordinator


      

The Department of Political Science invites applications for a Program Coordinator to work with the Governance and Local Development Institute. This is a fixed-termed position for 12 months, full-time. 

We are looking for someone who has at least a bachelor's degree in political science or another field relevant to the position. Previous work in a similar environment, at a university or in a large international research program such as GLD, is meritorious. To be suitable for the position, you must be able to handle many different tasks and be able to work both independently and in a group.

The type of employment is fixed-term, 12 months. Extent 100%. Start date as soon as possible.

Job Assignments 

As Program Coordinator, your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and coordination of conferences, workshops, meetings, events and programs for visiting researchers. You will be responsible for all workshops and conferences, from the planning stage to the execution
  • Internal purchases (for example, office supplies, project materials, refreshments and representation)
  • Planning team meetings, training sessions and other group activities
  • Responsibility for direct procurement and assistance with larger procurements
  • Administration and coordination when recruiting interns
  • Assist in other recruitment processes, including writing advertisements for GLD employees, fellowships and announcing small research grants
  • Translation of material (for example, website texts and advertisements) from English to Swedish
  • Coordination of fellowship and short-term grant programs
  • Identification of new research grants and assistance in preparing the grant application
  • Administration of international payments and fees

The work tasks will vary by proportion and content.

 

Qualifications

Experience with the following programs is a requirement:

  • Microsoft 365
  • Zoom

Experience with the following programs and processes is advantageous:

  • Proceed
  • Aggression
  • Primula
  • Web publishing tools
  • Handling of foreign fees and SINK application
  • Management of purchases and direct procurement

Fluency in Swedish (oral and written) and excellent knowledge of English (oral and written) is a requirement.

To be successful in employment, you must have an eye for detail, good organizational skills and be able to solve problems. You have very high communication and collaboration skills.
