Abdulrahman Abohajeb

Abdulrahman Abohajeb is a research intern at GLD, who works with the GLD in the MENA project.

He will be focusing on social engineering in the MENA region with a particular interest in the social transformation toward gender justice. His recent research has delved into the involvement of women in conflict in Yemen, specifically examining how the Houthi armed group mobilizes and militarizes Yemeni women in their war efforts.

During his time at GLD, Abdulrahman aims to map the progress of social transformation toward gender justice across Yemen and explore the factors that drive these changes, with a specific emphasis on gender roles, women's participation in the public sphere, and the state's efforts toward gender justice in Yemen.

Abdulrahman holds a Master's Degree in Conflict Management and Humanitarian Action from the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies in Qatar. Prior to his internship at GLD, he has worked as a research and humanitarian professional in international NGOs in Yemen and Sudan. This experience has equipped him with valuable insights into the challenges faced by communities in conflict-affected areas.

Abdulrahman sees his current internship at GLD at the University of Gothenburg as an invaluable opportunity to learn, collaborate, refine his research skills, establish professional connections, and make a meaningful impact. He is eager to contribute to the ongoing work at GLD and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of gender justice.
