Erica Ann Metheney
Statistician and Head of GLD Data
Erica is the Head of GLD's Data Team and GLD’s statistician. She is also the head of the Quality of Government Institute (QoG)'s data team. She holds a Ph.D. in Statistics from Texas A&M University, and her professional interests include survey design and analysis, applications of complexity science and computational social science to local governance problems, and statistical consulting and education.
Erica has overseen the implementation of multiple large-scale surveys of varying formats in countries across the MENA and Sub-Saharan Africa regions. She was also the PI of the Swedish Research Links program, which provided junior scholars from Kenya, Zambia, and Malawi the opportunity to expand their professional networks through new collaborations with senior scholars.
She is the PI for GLD's Political Change and Local Governance in Emerging Cities project the co-PI for the Survive, Thrive, and Deprive?: Drivers and Outcomes of Resilience During the Covid-19 Pandemic in Malawi project. Most recently, Erica has been exploring a new line of research that focuses on analyzing local governance as a complex system.
