Ezra Karmel
Development Practitioner
Ezra works at the intersection of research and development programming, managing large-scale research and monitoring initiatives that translate complex data into policy-relevant insights. He has supported programmes funded by a range of donors, currently working as the Research, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Lead for a multi-donor community security programme in Syria. Ezra’s research interests include decentralization, public policy, and elections in authoritarian and post-conflict contexts. His research has primarily focused on the Middle East where he has been living and working for more than a decade. He holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Guelph.
Ezra is currently working on the Syria LGPI implementation, alongside Ellen and Erica at GLD, Alexandra Blackman at Cornell University, and Daniel Masterson at University of California, Santa Barbara.
